CBI files case in murder of 4 of UP family

In 2005, Nitin’s mother Sunita Devi had moved the Supreme Court for a CBI investigation into both murder cases

The CBI has registered a case into the murder of four persons of a family killed in two separate incidents in 2001 and 2002 in Hapur’s Pilakhua area (then part of Ghaziabad). In 2001, the bodies of Seema Garg, 30, her children, Bhavya, 4, and Pratyakshya (8 months), were found in their house. Seema’s husband Nitin Garg along with two others was charged with the murder, who was subsequently acquitted, only to be shot the next year.

CBI’s Special Crime Branch of Lucknow Thursday registered the case and begun investigation. “We have come to know that the complainant’s family had shifted to Delhi following threat perception. We have contacted them to get their statements recorded,” said an officer.

In 2005, Nitin’s mother Sunita Devi had moved the Supreme Court for a CBI investigation into both murder cases, and in October last year, the court directed for re-investigation in the cases.
