Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who also holds the transport portfolio, said that the government has decided to introduce seaplane services to promote tourism in Narikelkunja and Chhabimura under the Gomati district.
As part of the initiative, the tourism minister chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala via video conferencing on Saturday.
“The Tourism and Transport Departments have jointly adopted a special initiative to introduce Seaplane Tourism in the state… Today, I presided over the Hybrid meeting for discussion with Maritime Energy Heli Air Services Pvt Ltd (MEHAIR) in connection with the operationalisation of seaplanes…” Chowdhury wrote on his social media handle.
Chowdhury added that seaplanes can provide tourists with a new experience and also contribute to the development of the local economy.
Seaplanes are aircraft that can land, take off, and float on water.
