A rare sight unfolded in Atkona village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district on Tuesday when a tigress, around two years old, decided to rest on the boundary wall of a farmhouse. The animal, believed to have wandered from the nearby Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Forest, caused a stir among the villagers.

As news about the tigress spread, crowds arrived from different parts of Pilibhit to catch a glimpse of the animal. Forest department officials were promptly informed and they rushed to the scene and set up a security cordon around the area using nets.

Despite the commotion, the tigress remained calm and perched atop the wall, seemingly unfazed by the attention. After several hours, forest officials managed to tranquillise the animal and send it for medical examination.

“The tigress is currently under observation,” said Pilibhit’s Divisional Forest Officer Naveen Khandelwal. “Our next course of action will be based on the advice of senior authorities.”
