ECI SIR Electoral Roll 2025 LIVE Updates: The draft electoral rolls after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in three states and two Union Territories — West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep — were published by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The revised electorate in these regions now stands at 12.32 crore, compared with 13.36 crore recorded on October 27.

According to the ECI, the draft lists include fresh voters who applied for enrolment through Form 6. At the same time, a large number of existing voters who did not submit enumeration forms during the revision process have been classified under the ASD category — absent, shifted, dead or duplicate. These entries have not been removed yet and will undergo further scrutiny before the final electoral rolls are released in February. The corrections are being carried out from today.

West Bengal accounted for the steepest drop among the regions covered in this phase, with roughly 58 lakh names not featuring in the draft rolls. Rajasthan followed with a reduction of about 44 lakh voters. Puducherry and Goa each recorded a decline of slightly over one lakh electors, while Lakshadweep saw a relatively minor decrease of around 1,600 names.

The release of the draft rolls marks the conclusion of the counting phase and signals the start of the next stage of the exercise. This phase will allow voters and political parties to file claims, submit objections and participate in hearings, a process scheduled to run until February 2026.

SIR Draft Roll 2025 LIVE Updates: TMC to conduct door-to-door verification of voters in CM Mamata's constituency

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership has decided to ask its booth-level workers to conduct a fresh, door-to-door verification of voters whose names were removed from the electoral rolls in Bhabanipur, the Assembly constituency of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, party sources said. The move follows the deletion of nearly 45,000 names from the constituency’s draft voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Election Commission figures show that Bhabanipur had 2,06,295 registered voters in January 2025. The newly published draft rolls list 1,61,509 electors, reflecting the removal of 44,787 names — around 21.7 per cent of the total electorate.

On Tuesday, the Election Commission released West Bengal’s draft electoral rolls after completing the SIR, during which more than 58 lakh names were removed statewide. The deletions were attributed to reasons such as death, migration and other eligibility-related factors, as part of preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections.

In the closing fortnight of the Bihar SIR in September, The Indian Express has learnt, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across the state found “pre-filled notices” appearing on their individual log-ins on the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) centralised portal. These notices, estimated to be in lakhs but no number has been provided by the EC, were addressed to Bihar electors who had already submitted their forms and supporting documents and whose names figured in the draft rolls published in August. SIR Draft Roll 2025 LIVE Updates: What is SIR electoral draft roll? When will the final rolls be published for West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep?

The electoral rolls draft after the Special intensive revision will be published by the Election Commission of India today for 3 states and 2 Union Territorries. The door-to-door enumeration method was used to prepare fresh electoral rolls during a comprehensive revision exercise till December 11. In this process, enumerators visited every household without referring to existing voter lists and record the names of individuals who are eligible to vote as on the notified qualifying date.

The exercise helped the Election Commission of India (ECI) determine inaccuracies in the existing electoral rolls. It is an exhaustive verification and updating drive aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is included in the rolls while excluding those who are no longer entitled to be listed.

As part of this process, Booth Level Officers carry out door-to-door visits to verify voter details, identify new eligible voters, and remove entries relating to duplicate records, deceased individuals, or those who have relocated. The revision is conducted independently of previously published electoral rolls.

For online submission of forms, linking a mobile number with the EPIC is mandatory. The initiative is intended to enhance the transparency and reliability of electoral rolls ahead of Assembly elections in West Bengal and other states, with the objective of ensuring inclusive and fraud-free elections.

The draft rolls is the one published by the ECI for voters to check if their names have been recorded. This is important because it will determine the voting status of a person. If the name is not there, a voter can appeal and seek correction of the rolls. The appeals will have to be made within a set period, after which the final electoral rolls will be published.

For the West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep the final rolls will be published on February 14, 2026.
