SC should keep ‘collective conscience’ of Muslims in mind: Mehbooba on WaqfPDP president Mehbooba Mufti

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Thursday said the SC should keep “collective conscience” and “sentiments” in mind when deciding the petitions against the Waqf law, just “like they did in the cases of Babri Masjid and Afzal Guru”.

“…the Babri Masjid decision came, there was no evidence; when the decision came in the Afzal Guru case, there was no evidence. But the Supreme Court said we have decided this case for collective conscience, for people’s trust,” the former chief minister said at a party convention in Srinagar.

“There are sentiments of crores of Muslims linked with Waqf. We even have evidence and our case is strong. We want the SC to keep in mind the same collective conscience and decide against the amendments.”
