The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet against Tejashwi Yadav — naming him as an accused for the first time — along with 16 others in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. A day after Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the alleged land-for-jobs scam, JD(U) hit out at the BJP-led central government, saying that the move was meant to target efforts towards Opposition unity.
Senior JD(U) leader KC Tyagi said, “The timing (to file chargesheet) has been decided keeping in mind the unity of opposition parties… These investigative agencies were never misused like this earlier.”
JD(U) national president Lalan Singh, too, decried the move, saying “everyone knows what the Centre is doing”.
“We knew that this will happen…This started when Mahagathbandhan was formed again in August 2022 and we became a part of it. It’s surprising that five days ago, the PM said that NCP leaders are involved in Rs 70,000 Crores of scams. Now, they are joining the BJP cabinet in Maharashtra, and when Tejashwi Yadav is joining Mahagathbandhan, a chargesheet is being filed in a matter which was probed twice by CBI and dismissed. Everyone knows what the Centre is doing. Public is watching everything,” Singh said.

“This kind of political witch hunt will only strengthen opposition unity in the country. Yadav will not get scared with CBI’s act or the BJP-led central government. Electorates understand all these undemocratic act of the Modi government and people will give a befitting reply to the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls,” he added.
The CBI on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet against Tejashwi Yadav — naming him as an accused for the first time — along with 16 others in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam. Apart from Tejashwi, the supplementary chargesheet named his parents — RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi.
Meanwhile, RJD MP Manoj Jha also condemned the move and stated, “This is no more CBI. It is from the two top leaders of BJP who run the Union government.”
Doubling down on the attack against RJD, BJP leader Ajay Alok said, “Nitish Kumar will resign from the post of Bihar CM in next 10-15 days. On 13th, they will be presented before the Court, the CBI will ask for their remand and if they get their custody, then it’s done. Nitish Kumar guarantees corruption, PM Modi guarantees a fair investigation.”
