A local court on Thursday sent four suspended J&K police officers including former SP Shopian,Javid Iqbal Matoo,for ten days police remand.
The police officers SP Mattoo,DSP Rohit Baskotra,Station House Officer (SHO) Shafiq Ahmad and the sub inspector,Gazi Abdul Karim who were arrested on Wednesday on High Court directions were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate,Budgam by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of J &K Police probing the rape and murder of two Shopian Women.
SP of the SIT,Shah Din Malik moved an application before the CJM Budgam on Thursday and sought police remand of the accused for questioning purposes. The CJM later granted ten days police remand of the four police officers who were suspended by the J &K government on the recommendations of the Judicial Commission which accused the police officers of destroying the evidence in the crime.
On Wednesday the division bench of High Court had directed the SIT to arrest the four police officers for destroying the evidence in murder and rape case of Nilafar and Asiya Jan on May 29.
The Court had also directed that the blood samples of the suspended police officers be taken for DNA test and the same should be matched with the DNA samples of the two deceased ladies. And hours after the court direction the SIT arrested the four police officers.
