Maoists attack CRPF camp; four ultras injured

Around 200 bullets were exchanged during encounter.

At least four Maoists were shot at on Monday in an encounter with the CRPF personnel when their camp was attacked by the ultras in Khunti district of Jharkhand,police said.

“At least four Maoists were shot at during the strong retaliatory action by the security forces,beating down the Maoists attack on CRPF camp immediately after the flag hoisting ceremony at Rania,” Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushi said.

He said the security men saw blood stains at several places during search operation and found out that at least four Maoists were hit by bullets and were dragged away by their associates.

About 200 bullets were exchanged during the encounter before Maoists retreated into the forests,the official said.

There was no casualty on the CRPF side,he said.

Meanwhile,in Ranchi,seven alleged members of banned People’s Liberation Front of India were arrested and arms and ammunition were recovered from them.

“They were arrested from Angara Police Station area on Saturday night. One rifle with magazine,two 9mm pistols,a revolver,16 cartridges,mobile phone,SIM cards and other items were recovered from them,” SSP Saket Kumar Singh said.

The arrested people allegedly used to extort money from businessmen.
