J-K govt mulls air ambulance service

In these areas,there is an urgent need for air ambulance service for such patients,he said.

Jammu and Kashmir government is contemplating an air ambulance service in the state to facilitate patients living in far-flung and inaccessible areas.

“We are contemplating to have an air ambulance service to facilitate patients living in far-flung and inaccessible areas of Jammu and Kashmir,” state Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma said while inaugurating a blood bank facility here on Tuesday.

He said in view of the difficult and rugged terrain of the state,it is not possible to shift emergency patients at Tertiary Care Centres (TCCs) for specialised treatment on time.

In these areas,there is an urgent need for air ambulance service for such patients,he said.

The government is already in a process of procuring Critical Ambulance vehicles for each district hospital and also stationing them at national highways to cater to emergencies,the Minister said.
