Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to set up a state level energy park in summer capital Srinagar at a cost of Rs one crore,an official spokesperson said today.

“A state-level energy park is being set up shortly at Srinagar at a cost of Rs one crore,” Minister for Information and Science Technology Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said addressing a high level meeting here yesterday.

He said as many as 6324 solar home lights have been distributed under Remote Village Electrification (RVE) programme in the state so far.

The minister impressed upon the officers to accelerate the pace of procurement and installation of the solar lights and cover all the remaining villages by the end of this month,the spokesperson said.

Mehdi said solar power plants and water heater plants are being installed at the holy Hazratbal and Chrari Sharief shrines in the valley besides Assembly and Council Secretariats at Jammu at an accumulated cost of Rs 1.50 crore.

As many as 69 health institutions have been proposed for installation of solar water plants at an estimated cost of Rs 32.75 crore,the minister said.

He said 121 CICs have been proposed to be provided solar lights while a proposal of additional 1000 units of street lights have been submitted to the centre for approval.

The Centre has sanctioned 13 solar power plants for the state with a capacity of 123.90 kw costing Rs 3.71 crore,the minister said.

Under solar photovoltaic programme,Mehdi said that 210 solar street lights have been installed at hospitals and religious places.

He said Centre has also sanctioned three mini hydro power plants for the state with capacity of 105 kw and Solar Wind Hybrid System would be set up at identified locations costing Rs one crore,apart from setting up of service centres at all district headquarters.
