The Delhi BJP accused the Congress of using “money power” to poach its workers ahead of Thursday’s Lok Sabha elections in the national capital.
“Various allurements including money are being offered to our workers to switch allegiance. This is an old tactic of the Congress,” Senior party leader V K Malhotra told reporters. He claimed that party councillor from Balimaran’s ward no 86,Renuka Gupta who joined Congress yesterday, left the party coming under “influence”.
Malhotra said BSP candidate from North-East Delhi seat Haji Dilshad Ali withdrew from the electoral race under pressure from the ruling party.
Ali withdrew from the electoral race on Tuesday and threw his weight behind Congress.
Delhi BJP president O P Kohli exuded confidence of a “better performance” by the party in the polls in Delhi.
Malhotra also criticised the CBI for questioning former Defence Minister George Fernandes in connection with the alleged bungling of Rs 5,183 crore in the purchase of Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARV) during 1998-2000 just ahead of the polls.
