CPM activist murdered in Kerala

A CPI-M activist was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants at Thodikalam near here on Friday. G Pavithran (50),CPI-M’s local committee member and a member of Chittariparamba panchayat,was attacked while he was distributing party mouthpiece Deshabhimani around 6 am,police said.

The seriously injured Pavithran was rushed to a hospital in Thalassery where he was declared “brought dead”,they said.

The incident comes at a time when the electioneering for the Lok Sabha polls has started gaining momentum in the politically sensitive belts of Kannur district. Four persons had been killed in the district – three alone in the sensitive Panoor locality – earlier this month,and several crude bombs were recovered in police raids following the murder.
