Chidambaram meets JK Cong chief in Srinagar

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram held a one-to-one meeting with the president of Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress Saif-ud-diz Soz in Srinagar.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today held a one-to-one meeting with the president of Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress Saif-ud-diz Soz here and discussed socio political situation in the state,a party spokesman said.

“The Home Minister and Soz had a one-to-one meeting at Raj Bhavan. The two leaders had a thorough discussion on socio political situation obtaining in the state,” the spokesman said in a statement here.

He said the meeting was followed by a separate meeting between Chidambaram and senior party functionaries.

The meeting lasted for 40 minutes at Nehru Guest House and the leaders discussed in detail various issues including promotion of good governance,eradication of corruption and strengthening of peace process in the state,he said.

The spokesman said the efforts made by the Centre’s interlocutors and various civil society groups for promotion of dialogue with the Central government also came up under discussion.

“It was suggested to the Home Minister that the Congress party’s perception on such issues should be appreciated in proper perspective as this party alone has the capacity to represent the view point of the people in all the three regions,” the spokesman said.
