Asserting that situation in Kashmir has once again demonstrated the communal,exclusivist and extremely regressive ideological content of all variants of separatist campaign,Panun Kashmir a frontal organization of migrant Kashmiri Pandits,on Saturday asked the Centre to talk to all the stake holders including minorities in Jammu and Kashmir for resolving issues.
The state has 43 per cent Hindu population,besides Sikh and Buddhist minorities and when put together,they constitute 50 per cent of the total population of the state,said Panun Kashmir convenor Ajay Charangoo and chairman of its Political Affairs Committee M K Taing at a press conference here. The Centre cannot ignore this important aspect and as such,it shall take them also on the board so to resolve issues pertaining to the state.
Kashmir is neither a Muslim preserve,nor is it a no-mans land and therefore,negotiations should be held even with those belonging to different regions, they said,adding that the Government of India has no mandate to convert it into a Muslim preserve. Describing separatist movement in Valley as negation of all fundamental rights. In this connection,they said that Indian freedom envisaged by transfer of power in India did not give any community,any people or even any ethnic or religious identity the right to divide India.
Asking the Centre and the political leaders in the country to recognize the necessity to save sovereignty and integrity of Indian nation in Jammu Kashmir,the Panun Kashmir leaders reiterated their demand for a separate home land with Union Territory status for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. The creation of a Centrally administered territory in Kashmir province,situated in the north and east of river Jehlum,for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus,has become an imperative necessity, they added.
They said that Panun Kashmir recognizes that all the variants of separatism in Jammu and Kashmir are bereft of any commitment to the right to equality,the right to freedom and liberty and the right to protection against discrimination. Pointing out that it recognizes separatist movement in Kashmir as negation of all fundamental rights,both the Panun Kashmir leaders called upon all patriotic people of the state and the country to support creation of a separate home land with UT status for Kashmiri Pandits within the Valley.
