The centre’s interlocutor for peace talks with militant outfits in the north east,P.C.Haldar on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing situation in North Cachar Hills district of Assam.
Official sources said here that Haldar,a former IB official reviewed the ground realities in the district before taking forward the talks process with the Dima Halam Daoga (DHD).
He also held discussions with various NGOs,students’ leaders,prominent citizens and several other organizations here.
The Centre has appointed Haldar to work out the modalities and explore the possibilities for holding negotiations with different militant organisations in Assam.
North Cachar Hills district had witnessed widespread violence for three months since March this year with the DHD(Black Widow) faction attacking security,railway and construction firm employees and destroying their property. Its chief Jewel Garlosa was later arrested from Bangalore.
