Boycott Panchayat polls: Geelani to people

The hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference,led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani,on Wednesday asked people to boycott upcoming Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

“I appeal to people to boycott coming Panchayat polls as New Delhi is pursuing unprincipled politics in Kashmir,” Geelani said in a statement here.

The Hurriyat hawk said the Centre had increased the strength of security forces in the state and elections under such an atmosphere could not be fair.
