Arunachal CM vows to improve law and order situation

He urged the administration as well as the people to stand united against acts that challenge the peace prevailing in the state.

“We must act as one to contain the rapidly growing culture of periodic bandhs that has become a menace to public life. I am also certain that bandhs,which harass the people and cause great economic loss,are not the best means to register differences of opinion,” he said.

He said substantial funds were being made available to troubled Tirap and Changlang districts for strengthening and modernising the police set-up.

“The state government is going to raise three new battalions of police force including the fourth IRBn,an Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) battalion and a battalion for Tirap and Changlang,” the Chief Minister said.

The recruitment for these battalions would begin soon and this would not only augment the law and order machinery but also provide much needed job opportunities for the unemployed youths of the state,Gamlin pointed out.

The APP battalion is being exclusively raised to provide security in various hydropower projects and road projects including the Trans Arunachal Highway,he added.

He said in order to improve the state’s education scenario,the state government had launched a new scheme ‘Chief Minister’s Talent Award Scheme from this year whereby the toppers in class 10th and 12th would be honoured by providing a cash award of ten thousand and a laptop.

This will inculcate a spirit of competition and promote excellence in academics in our school system,Gamlin said.

The chief minister also hinted on re-operationalisation of the Village Level Monitoring Committee and various others measures like surprise checks at fair price shops and finalization of carriage contracts in a transparent manner for streamlining the public distribution system (PDS) in the state.

The essential step to re-vitalize the PDS would undoubtedly be the launch of the e-PDS software application in all districts to check duplicity,he added.

The state government on the occasion also awarded gold medals to nine officials including silver (17) and commendation certificates (12) for their meritorious services.
