Action Plan for welfare of mahadalits in BiharThe NDA government in Bihar has chalked out an ambitious action plan under the ‘Bihar Mahadalit Vikash Mission’ for the uplift of mahadalits.

The NDA government in Bihar has chalked out an ambitious action plan under the ‘Bihar Mahadalit Vikash Mission’ for the uplift of mahadalits,the poorest of dalits,in the state.

“An ambitious action plan has been chalked out under the mission for over five million people identified as mahadalits in Bihar,” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said making a suo motu statement in both houses of the state legislature.

The state Mahadalit Commission has identified 20 out of the 22 scheduled castes as mahadalits.

The Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission is registered under the Society Registration Act,1860 for implementation of welfare schemes for the uplift of mahadalits in keeping with the reports of the state Mahadalit Commission.

The state government had decided to provide 3 decimal land to each landless mahadalit family for construction of houses under the Mahadalit Development Scheme.

The total number of landless mahadalit families was around 1,06,00,the Chief Minister said.

A special ‘Mahadalit Sauchalaya Nirman Yojana’ has been launched under which each mahadalit family would receive Rs 300 from the Bihar Mahadalit Vikash Mission for construction of toilets.
