US shooting: No politician visited us,says victim’s brother

No political leader has visited the family of Subegh Singh,who died in the shooting incident in a gurudwara in the United States on August five,victim's brother said here today.

No political leader has visited the family of Subegh Singh,who died in the shooting incident in a gurudwara in the United States on August five,victim’s brother said here today.

Subegh’s family members in village Rattangarh,near here,in Fatehgarh Sahib district,lamented what they alleged the apathetic attitude of the Punjab government towards them.

“Neither any politician nor any official has visited us,” 70-year-old Ranvir Singh,the victim’s brother,said.

“We came here 50 years ago and developed the village,” he said lauding Subegh’s contributions in this regard. “Subegh suffered losses after 1984 (riots). He sold his property in early 1985 in Mathura in UP. He went to the US in 1992. His son Baljinder was already there in Wisconsin,” Ranvir said.

Subegh’s two other sons Iqbal Singh and Jagmail Singh are in India. Iqbal Singh is living in Patiala and Jagmail Singh in Rattangarh.

Subegh’s two daughter are married,Ranvir said.

“Subegh’s family is financially weak and works hard for livelihood,” he said.

Subegh’s ashes reached here on Thursday which were immersed at Kirtapur Sahib yesterday.
