Punjab withdraws Sidhu’s security

“This (withdrawal of security) shows them (Badals) in poor light,” Sidhu said.

Four security guards attac-hed with former BJP MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu were allegedly withdrawn by the Punjab government on Tuesday.

BJP star campaigner Sid-hu, who had launched a virulent attack on the ruling SAD and Badals in Punjab during his Haryana Assembly polls campaign recently, reacted sharply to the development. “It is not democracy in Punjab where everyone has an opinion, but rule of danda tantra (rule of cane) and gunda tantra (rule of hooligans). I had raised genuine issues and dared Badals for an open debate. And when they have no answer, they have resorted to such petty politics,” Sidhu said over phone from Delhi.

“I do not fear anyone. Those who walk the path of truth have no fear. I live in a world where my mind is without fear and head held high,” Sidhu said, adding that he was brave and not a coward.

“This (withdrawal of security) shows them (Badals) in poor light,” Sidhu said.

His wife and BJP Chief Parliamentary Secretary in SAD-BJP government Navjot Kaur Sidhu was equally critical of the Badals. “This is dictatorship of Badal family. You talk against them and pay the price,” Kaur said, adding that Badals had no answers to the issues raised by Sidhu and that was the reason they resorted to petty thing like withdrawing security. “If anything happens to Sidhu, Badals would be responsible for that,” she added.

Security guards attached with Sidhu got calls from their headquarters on Tuesday morning to report back to the duty. Sidhu had 11 security personnel attached to him when he was MP. After that four security personnel were attached to him.
