The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) would start Jan Jagran Abhiyan after July 15 with the aim of knowing the problems of the people of Haryana and highlighting the failures of the BJP government in the state.

Leader of Opposition in the Haryana Assembly Abhay Singh Chautala while addressing a press conference on Wednesday said the state government has failed to fulfill promises made before the elections. “The Haryana CM promised during both sessions of the Assembly that a probe would be conducted in the irregularities and corruption by the Congress in the past 10 years. Similar statements have been made by the ministers on different platforms. However, no inquiry has been initiated,” he said.

Chautala said as part of the Jan Jagran Abhiyan, party leaders would visit various areas to know the problems that the people are facing. He added, “The BJP government keeps claiming that 21 medical colleges would be set up in the state. The foundation stone of not even one has been laid. The crime rate has gone up. The BJP had promised to increase old age pension, implement Swaminathan Commission report and give unemployment allowance. Nothing has been done yet.”

Chautala added that the guest teachers were assured that their jobs would be regularised. Instead, they have been terminated. He said that the government should call a one-day Assembly session to discuss the issue. He added that around 70,000 youngsters who had cleared the physical exam for police recruitment have been left in the lurch with the government scrapping the recruitment process making allegations of nepotism.

Talking about the forthcoming panchayat elections, Chautala said if the BJP and the Congress contest on party symbols, it will become clear where the parties stand. “If they contest on party symbol, we will do the same,” Chautala said.
