Properties of 11 militants from J&K operating in Pak, PoK attached in Kishtwar: Police

Police said the move came after Special Judge Sudesh Sharma of the NIA Court, Doda, issued orders under Section 83 of the CrPC, which allows for the attachment of property belonging to absconding persons.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said it attached properties of 11 militants from Kishtwar district who are now operating in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Police said the move came after Special Judge Sudesh Sharma of the NIA Court, Doda, issued orders under Section 83 of the CrPC, which allows for the attachment of property belonging to absconding persons.

Kishtwar police then formed special teams comprising senior police officers and executive magistrates to execute the orders. ⁠The attached properties have been marked with signboards, they said.

The militants whose properties were attached include Shabir Ahmed alias Junaid, Jamal Din Naik alias Mudassir, Manzoor Ahmed, and Ghulam Mohd Gujjar, all residents of Chatroo, and Ghulam Hussain Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed Raina alias Showkat, and Gulzar Ahmed alias Javid, all residents of Kuchhal. The others are Shabir Ahmed of Beigh Pura Singpura, Ghulam Nabi alias Majid, and Mohd Shafi alias Amjad, both residents of Sherri Sigdi, and Gulabu of Mughal Maidan.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Anand Jain, said properties of 18 more absconding militants have been identified and the process for their attachment is underway.

The ADGP said that such actions form part of a larger strategy aimed at disrupting the terror infrastructure and ensuring that no asset is misused to fund or support anti-national activities.

He warned that anyone aiding or abetting terrorism will face the full force of the law. He also appealed to people to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity.
