Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing Navy personnel onboard INS Vikrant off the Goa coast on Monday, hailed India’s growing defence capabilities and emphasised the country’s progress in defence manufacturing, noting that an average of 40 new warships or submarines have been inducted into the Navy annually since 2014.
“On average, 40 new warships or submarines have been inducted into the Indian Navy since 2014. BrahMos and Akash missiles proved their capabilities in Operation Sindoor. The name BrahMos alone makes people shiver. Many countries are interested in buying BrahMos. India is building the capability to export equipment for all three services,” Modi noted.
“We aspire to become a top defence exporter in the world, which has increased 30 times in the last 11 years,” he added.

"On average, 40 new warships or submarines have been inducted into the Indian Navy since 2014. BrahMos and Akash missiles proved their capabilities in Operation Sindoor. "We aspire to become a top defence exporter in the world, which has increased 30 times in the last 11 years,” he added.
Modi also applauded INS Vikrant, calling it a "testimony to 21st-century India's hard work, talent, impact, and commitment."
"INS Vikrant is not just warship... it reflects the capability of India's armed forces. It also brought Pakistan to its knees within days during Operation Sindoor," he said.
"Extraordinary coordination among three services together compelled Pakistan to surrender during Operation Sindoor," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday hailed the sacrifice and courage of Indian security forces towards eradicating Naxalism-Maoist violence in several districts over the last few years.
"It is due to the valour and courage of our security forces that the country has achieved another major milestone over the last few years. This milestone is about eradication of Maoist terrorism. The country is on the verge of liberation from Naxal-Maoist terror,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi expressed his delight at Diwali celebrations in these districts for the "first time," because of the sacrifice and courage of the security forces.
“More than 100 districts are now free from Maoist terror and are breathing in open air for the first time and celebrating a splendid Diwali,” the prime minister said.
"I am delighted that for the first time, people in many such districts of the country are going to celebrate Diwali with pride, honour and dignity."
Alongside security forces, PM Modi also credited the work of Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) government at the Centre since 2014 for their efforts in bringing down the number of districts under Maoist influence from 125 to 11.
"Before 2014, nearly 125 districts across the country were in the grip of Maoist violence and this number has now reduced to just 11 districts. Of these 11 districts, only three districts remain under their influence," he said.
Highlighting that there were regions where Maoists did not allow building schools, roads and hospitals, blew up schools and hospitals and gunned down doctors, Modi said, "In the same regions, highways are being built, new businesses are taking root, and schools and hospitals are building a new future for children.
