PM Modi will be in Odisha Saturday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of infrastructure projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur, a Prime Minister Office’s statement said. The next day, he will unveil and lay the foundation stones of various development initiatives worth over Rs 11,000 crore in Guwahati.
The initiatives include upgrading Nehru stadium in Guwahati as a FIFA-standard football stadium to harness the “tremendous sports potential of the region” and laying the foundation stone for Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana (Maa Kamakhya Access Corridor) in a continued emphasis on amenities in pilgrimage sites under under the Development Initiative for North Eastern Region.
Modi will also lay the foundations stones of multiple road upgradation projects worth over Rs 3,400 crore as part of the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity.
Modi will also inaugurate two four-laning projects — Dolabari to Jamuguri and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur to help improve connectivity to Itanagar and boost economic development of the region, the statement said.
To strengthen the nation’s energy security, the PM will inaugurate Dhamra – Angul Pipeline Section (412 km) of Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL) in Odisha under PM Urja Ganga. Built at a cost of over Rs 2,450 crore, the project will connect Odisha with the National Gas Grid.
To increase the natural gas availability to states like Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, the PM will also lay the foundation stone of Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section (692 km) of Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline which will be developed at a cost of over Rs 2,660 crore, the statement said.
The PM will lay the foundation stone of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Talabira Thermal power project worth over Rs 27,000 crore in Odisha in a boost to his vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The project, when complete, will provide reliable, affordable and round-the-clock power.
During the programme, Modi will also dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of multiple power projects worth around Rs 28,980 crore in Odisha’s various districts for low-cost power to Odisha and other states as well, the statement said.
Built at a cost of around Rs 2,145 crore, the PM will inaugurate coal infrastructure projects of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited including First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects – Bhubaneswari Phase-I in Talcher Coalfields in Angul district and Lajkura Rapid Loading System (RLS) to boost the quality and supply of dry fuel from Odisha.
In a paradigm shift in coal processing quality, Modi will also inaugurate IB Valley Washery, built at a cost of over Rs 550 crore in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district, the statement said, adding that Modi will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stones of various road and rail projects.
