Winter session of Parliament Day 20 Highlights: The Delhi Police registered an FIR on Thursday against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others in connection with the scuffle that took place outside the Parliament today. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha was booked under several sections of BNS — 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 115 (voluntary causing hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention). Soon after the scuffle, the BJP alleged that two of its MPs, Pratap Chandra Sarangi from Balasore in Odisha and Mukesh Rajput from Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, were injured after being allegedly pushed by Opposition MPs as both sides protested over the B R Ambedkar issue. BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi claimed he was injured when Gandhi pushed a senior BJP member, leading to his (Sarangi’s) fall.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a strict notice saying “no political Party, Member of Parliament or groups of members will hold any dharna and demonstration at building gates of Parliament House.”

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took a jibe the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged unparliamentary behaviour against a senior citizen MP and a tribal woman MP from the Northeast saying there is "no scope of physical altercation in the temple of democracy".

In a statement, Sonowal said by allegedly indulging in physical altercation, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has "injured" a senior citizen and fellow MP, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, and "displayed an ugly side that is unbecoming of an elected member of the Parliament".

"Such action is a blatant violation of the decorum of the House and in contravention of the principle of 'Ahimsa'. I call upon the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to take cognisance of this matter and bring the guilty to the book," he said.

Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, also strongly criticised Gandhi for his alleged misbehaviour with a woman MP from Nagaland, Phangnon Konyak.

" Peaceful protests are taking place daily from 10.30 am to 11 am. Today, for the first time, they (BJP MPs) protested and stopped everyone and then indulged in pushing and 'goodagardi' (hooliganism)'," she added further.
