Pakistan troops continue unprovoked firing across LoC for 5th night: Army

Pakistani troops continued unprovoked firing towards the Indian side at several locations in Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control for a fifth night.

In the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control from areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts in Kashmir, as well as Akhnoor sector, said Lt Colonel Suneel Bartwal, PRO (Defence), Northern Command.

The Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner to the provocation, he said.

Since Thursday night, within hours of India suspending the Indus Water Treaty following the killing of 26 civilians in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Pakistani troops have been resorting to unprovoked firing at various place along the Line of Control in the Kashmir Valley.

On the intervening night of April 27-28, too, Pakistan Army posts had initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts.

There have been no casualties on the Indian side from these firing incidents.
