A Pakistani national captured for infiltrating into India in Kutch in 2015, died at the Ahmedabad-based Civil Hospital, reportedly of Hepatitis B, last week, according to officials. The man, Himmat Gul Hussain, was termed “mentally unstable” by authorities and was being held at the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Bhuj since his arrest on July 20, 2015. According to police and officials of the hospital, he was brought to the emergency department of the hospital on October 23 and was admitted in the Outpatient Department (OPD). The post-mortem records, accessed by The Indian Express showed that his health condition had deteriorated when he was brought in. “His body has been kept in the cold storage of the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and we are in touch with the MEA through our home department so that his body can be sent back to Pakistan. Since the man was in an unstable state of mind, we do not have his address in Pakistan or information about his relatives,” said Sourav Tolumbia, SP, Kutch. “We did not find any other charges against Hussain other than infiltration. He appeared to be mentally unstable,” he added.
