A soldier was injured when suspected militants shot at him in south Kashmir’s Tral.

The soldier, identified as Delair Mushtaq Sofi, a resident of Khanagund village in Tral, had come home on leave when some suspected militants fired at him Wednesday evening. The soldier was shot in the leg and was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

According to police sources, Sofi is an army man with Territorial Army and is currently posted at Pattan in north Kashmir.

Wednesday’s attack is the second militant attack on a local soldier in the past two months. On October 8, a rifleman of the Territorial Army was killed by the militants after he was abducted during a search operation in south Kashmir’s Kokernag.
