The incident comes just two weeks after two non-tribal men were killed in the state.
According to police, the latest incident took place at around 11:30 am in Mawlai Mawroh locality. The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Arjun Ray. The two other workers at the construction site were injured.
A FIR has been registered but no arrests were made on Wednesday.
Two weeks ago, tensions had escalated over the killing of two non-tribals in Ichamati, close to the state’s border in Bangladesh. Two men from the Khasi Students’ Union were arrested in that case. The killings had taken place after an anti-CAA meeting in the area earlier that day.
