The Allahabad High court has dismissed the petition filed by Bollywood director Remo D’Souza to quash a cheating case against him.

The petition heard by a bench of Justice Rajeev Mishra stated that since D’Souza was unable to challenge the chargesheet filed against him, the court will grant him no relief.

“In the absence of any challenge to the charge sheet, no relief as prayed for by means of present application can be granted. As such, the present application fails and is liable to be dismissed,” the order read.

An FIR was registered in December 2016 on the complaint of a Ghaziabad movie-financier Satyendra Tyagi, alleging that D’Souza asked him to invest Rs 5 crore in his upcoming film and when he demanded the money back as promised, he was threatened by gangster Prasad Pujari.
