6 lakh new members have joined BJP in state: Tripura CM Manik Saha

Tripura CM Saha launched the party’s membership drive in the state last month with the target to enrol 12 lakh new members

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Sunday said over six lakh people have joined the BJP in the state during the ongoing membership drive of the party.

“I visited a few houses in my Assembly constituency (Town Bardowali) today as part of the second phase of our membership drive. I can see that people have faith in PM Narendra Modi. People are coming forward to become members of the party,” Saha told reporters during a membership drive at Ramnagar under Town Bardowali constituency.

Chief Minister Saha was accompanied by the Agartala mayor, among others, during the event.

In the Town Bardowali constituency alone, 12,000-13,000 residents have registered as party members till now, the CM added.

“The numbers will increase. We have targeted to include 12 lakh members during our drive across the state this year. We are getting a very good response,” Saha further said.

Saha announced that the party has also started offline membership drives in places that lack facilities for online registration.

The chief minister launched the party’s membership drive in the state last month with the target to enrol 12 lakh new members.

The BJP conducted membership drives in 2014 and 2019 as well. The party has started the same this year after the Lok Sabha elections with a target to enlist 10 crore members across the country.
