In a result that reflects quite the opposite of the ones in Mumbai and Thane, BJP have trumped their former allies Shiv Sena in Nashik, having secured 55 corporation wards as compared to Sena’s 35.
Congress on the other hand secured wins in 6 corporation wards.
The result while giving BJP a resounding victory compared to their performance in the 2012 Nashik Municipal Corporation Election, also reflects the fall of Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). MNS, who in the previous election had claimed a total of 40 seats, have managed only 3 seats this time around.

Earlier in the day, former mayor Yatin Wagh, who had jumped from MNS for Shiv Sena, lost from his ward.
Counting of votes in the elections to the Nashik Municipal Corporation began at 10 am on Thursday. The Nashik Municipal Corporation was the only urban body in Maharashtra which the MNS had been controlling, but it seems likely BJP will form a majority in the corporation.
In the 2012 election, the MNS had won 40 wards, followed by NCP in 20 wards, Shiv Sena in 19 wards and BJP in 14 wards. There are a total of 122 wards at stake in Nashik.
5:35 pm: BJP set to win Nashik with victories in 55 corporation wards so far. Shiv Sena trail quite a bit with wins in 35 wards in comparison.
4:30 pm: BJP have secured wins in 51 corporation wards, whereas Shiv Sena stand with victories in 33 wards. Congress on the other hand have managed to bag just six corporation wards.
3:25 pm: BJP is poised to secure Nashik as well with clear victories in 32 corporation wards and currently leading in 9. Shiv Sena, in second, have secured 17 wards while having leads in 8. The result seems to reflect opposite of that of Mumbai and Thane.
2:40 pm: The BJP is set to have a clean victory in the Nashik municipal corporation with leads in 40 wards followed by Sena in 22 wards. 40 more wards are still to be declared.
1:40 pm: Former Nashik Mayor Yatin Wagh, who had recently left the MNS and joined Shiv Sena, lost the civic poll.
1:20 pm: It looks like the voters of Nasik favour BJP over the Sena, quite opposite to what we are seeing in Mumbai. In Mumbai, the Sena has a good lead over the BJP and may even get a clean majority.
12:37 pm: BJP extend their lead over 22 wards, while Shiv Sena’s lead remain static in seven. BJP look to dominate Nashik as well.
11:50 am: In what is considered to be an NCP stronghold, BJP has a clean lead in 18 wards, followed by Shiv Sena in 7 wards. Remember, the MNS had won 40 wards here but this time, the party is leading in just 1 ward.
