PDP President Mehbooba Mufti meets with road accident, escapes unhurt
As per party officials, the driver of the car has received injuries in his leg. Mufti was on her way to Khanabal to meet victims of a recent fire incident.

Mehbooba Mufti, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and president of the Peoples Democratic Party, Thursday survived a road accident that left the driver of her vehicle and her personal security officer injured.
The accident took place in Sangam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to party officials, the driver of the car received injuries in his leg. Her PSO, too, sustained minor injuries. Mufti was on her way to Khanabal to meet victims of a recent fire incident when the vehicle met with an accident.
“Ms Mufti’s car met with a terrible accident enroute Anantnag today. Thanks to the grace of god she & her security officers escaped unhurt without any serious injuries.” her daughter Iltija Mufti said on X, formerly Twitter.
Visuals show the front end of the vehicle, towards the driver’s side, severely damaged.
Mufti initially complained of chest pain and was taken to a hospital in Srinagar for check-up. “Thankful to everyone for their prayers & the outpouring of concern about my well being. I am fine alhamdullilah. My driver & PSO have suffered injuries & I hope they recover soon,” Mufti said.
Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah said he was glad Mufti “escaped injury in what could have been a very serious incident”. “I expect the government to enquire into the circumstances of the accident. Any gaps in her security that contributed to this accident must be addressed immediately,” he wrote on social media..
People’s Conference president Sajad Lone also expressed concern over Mufti’s accident, posting on X, “Glad to hear she escaped unhurt. Praying for her good health and long life.”
