Former Chhattisgarh CM and newly appointed Congress general secretary in-charge for Punjab, Bhupesh Baghel, Thursday targeted the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government and described it as a sinking ship.
Baghel’s remarks came after the Congress’s Punjab Political Affairs Committee met at the AICC headquarters in Delhi to discuss the party’s plan for an overhaul of its organisation.
When asked by reporters about party colleague Partap Singh Bajwa’s claim that 30 AAP MLAs are in touch with the Congress, Baghel said, “I have only been to the state twice. The information I have got is that there is chaos there and the boat is going to sink soon. When that will happen is yet to be known.”
Baghel said the meeting discussed “directions from the AICC to strengthen the organisation. “The Congress is very strong in Punjab, but it needs to be micromanaged and everyone agreed. ”
The meeting was attended by senior leaders including Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Pratap Singh Bajwa and Charanjit Singh Channi. Incidentally, Navjot Singh Sidhu didn’t attend.
