Manipur govt announces Rs 10 lakh reward for info about missing man

According to a statement issued by the state Home department, the missing person is identified as Luwangthem Mukesh, son of L Gyanendra Das of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal West.

The Manipur government Saturday announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh  for providing credible information leading to the safe return of a 20-year-old man missing since March 15.

According to a statement issued by the state Home department, the missing person is identified as Luwangthem Mukesh, son of L Gyanendra Das of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal West.  Mukesh’s mother, Luwangthem Omila Devi, from Meitei community, had lodged a formal complaint on March 17 stating that Mukesh failed to return home and that his mobile phone was not reachable.

“The state government has announced a reward of Rs 10,00,000 only to any informant who provides credible information leading to the safe return of the missing person,” the statement said.  According to media reports, Mukesh was believed to have ventured into a Kuki-Zo dominated area called Zoujantek, which borders Bishnupur  (valley area) and Noney (hill area) districts. The state home department said Manipur police along with Assam Rifles and other Security Forces, have conducted searches  for the missing person in the districts of Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Noney and other parts of the state utilising advanced technical data.
