With the onset of monsoons in the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya virtually met with the principal health secretaries of the states Friday, urging them to undertake activities to control vector breeding and create community awareness about diseases such as dengue and malaria. The meeting comes after an increase in the number of fever cases reported in Kerala, where people are getting not just dengue but also respiratory infections like H1N1. He advised them to utilise the 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres across the country for management of cases and for awareness campaigns.
