Solution not based on self-determination unacceptable: Geelani

Geelani said any solution to the Kashmir issue not based on self-determination will not be acceptable.

Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani said any solution to the Kashmir issue not based on the right to self-determination will not be acceptable to people of the state.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir will not accept any solution which is forced on them or is not based on the right to self-determination,” the Chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference said.

In his telephonic address to the Kashmir Conference at Brussels,Geelani said “we will not accept any solution within the framework of the Indian Constitution.”

He also said solution to the Kashmir imbroglio could not be found through talks between New Delhi and Islamabad. “The Jammu and Kashmir is not a border dispute between India and Pakistan to resolve it bilaterally,” the Hurriyat hawk said.

The separatist leader sought intervention of the international community,especially the European Union,in resolving the Kashmir issue.
