Ravi rejects criticism that AICC deliberately skirted scams

Vayalar Ravi rejected BJP's criticism that Tuesday's AICC session had purposefully avoided a discussion on corruption issues like Mumbai Adarsh Society apartment scam.

Senior Congress leader and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi on Wednesday rejected BJP’s criticism that Tuesday’s AICC session had purposefully avoided a discussion on corruption issues like Mumbai Adarsh Society apartment scam.

“Appropriate action would be taken against those involved in the apartment scam on getting the report from senior leaders Pranab Mukherjee and A K Antony,” Ravi,Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, told reporters at the airport here.

The AICC session was called on a short-notice to focus on other issues. The media would not have taken notice of topics like RSS’s “terror links” if issues like corruption was given prominence,he said.

However, this would not mean that the party was taking lightly the apartment scam and alleged irregulaities relating to the Commonwealth Games. Both these issues would be discussed in the top party forums and also in Parliament in the coming session,he said.

“The party has taken the apartment scandal very seriously. You wait till the report comes. There will certainly be action on its basis”,he said.
