Lalu should tell-all about Cong: Nitish

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said the Railway minister should ‘bare all facts’ about UPA before the country.

After RJD president Lalu Prasad’s no-holds-barred attack on Congress over its “failure” to prevent demolition of Babri Masjid,Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the Railway minister should “bare all facts” before the country.

“Lalu Prasad should bare all facts before the country. Why is he only threatening to disclose the secret (about the demolition),” the JD(U) leader said at the airport in Patna.

Prasad alleged in an election rally at Bihar’s Darbhanga district on Friday that the Congress too was responsible for demolition of the Babri mosque.

“Babri masjid was razed to the ground and Congress too is responsible for it as it did nothing to prevent it. If anyone continue to talk nonsense,I will reveal more,” he had said, without elaborating.

Describing the demolition of Babri mosque as “one of the most unfortunate incidents of our times,” Kumar said,”from getting the gates of the mosque unlocked to permitting laying of foundation stone for the temple, the (then) Congress government at the Centre allowed it all.”

He,however, dubbed Lalu as an “incorrigible opportunist”,saying,”Lalu became chief minister for the first time with BJP’s support and conveniently dumped it when he realised that opposing BJP will suit his interest. He took Congress’ help to stay afloat and is now humiliating it.”

“Ever since 1997,Congress provided Lalu with an armour to save him. On how many occasions the Congress protected Lalu is known to everybody,” he said, apparently hinting at RJD chief’ acquittal in disproportionate assets case,an offshoot of the fodder scam,in which the Centre did not challenge the trial court’s order in superior court.

Accusing Lalu of raising the bogey of communalism to secure Muslim votes,Nitish Kumar claimed it was only when his government reopened several cases of Bhagalpur communal riots closed during the RJD regime for lack of evidence, that “the truth began to tumble out”.

“A man,who got convicted in a riot case that was reopened by us was used to be glorified by Lalu as an apostle of communal harmony,” Nitish charged without naming the convict, many believe to be Kameshwar Yadav,a Yadav strongman of Bhagalpur.

“The ground has slipped away from under Lalu Prasad’s feet and he is talking in desperation and nervousness. Secularism was always a fig leaf,a mask for Lalu to attain power at any cost,” he alleged.
