Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said he would like judges to go on foreign trips more often to enhance their global exposure on the latest developments in the legal arena. "There has been a lot of opposition against judges going on foreign trips. But,I for one will like judges to go on foreign trips more often to enhance their exposure on the latest developments in the legal arena," he said at a function at the Karnataka High Court. The Minister also said statistics put out of pending cases being solved is important,but not at the cost of quality judgements. He expressed concern over Indian courts not absorbing global changes on economic matters and also over graduates of law institutions taking up jobs at corporate firms,instead of practising law in courts. "There is a need to attract young and brilliant law students toward courts," he added. Khurshid also urged Karnataka to be the first state to computerise its High Court and subordinate courts as was done in the Delhi High court.
