Claiming that investigating agencies had “lost credibility” among Muslims due to their “biased behaviour”,Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to form an agency with experts from all communities to probe alleged fake encounters.
“The investigating agencies of the country have lost their credibility among Muslims due to their biased behaviour and doubtful role. An independent agency having experts and representatives from all communities should be established to probe incidents of bomb blasts, fake encounters and the arrest of innocent Muslims,” Syed Ahmed Bukhari said in the letter to the Prime Minister.
He also referred to his meeting with the Prime Minister earlier on April 3 along with a delegation to raise the issues concerning Muslims.
Referring to the alleged involvement of many non-Muslim groups in terrorist acts, the Shahi Imam rued that despite this it was mostly Muslims who were arrested in these cases.
