IIT-Delhi team misbehaves at Kanpur fest,disqualified

Students of the prestigious IIT-Delhi were disqualified and sent back from the annual festival at IIT-Kanpur.

Students of the prestigious IIT-Delhi were disqualified and sent back from the annual festival at IIT-Kanpur after they were allegedly found involved in a fracas under the influence of alcohol.

‘Antaragni’,the annual festival of IIT-Kanpur was organised at its premises from October 21 to 24,in which teams from various engineering colleges,including IIT-Delhi,participated.

However,on the night of October 20,some students from IIT-Delhi consumed alcohol and got involved in inappropriate behaviour,said Sanjeev Kashalkar,Registrar of IIT-Kanpur. He denied reports of some male students of the Delhi institute misbehaving with girls.

The condition of a girl student from the Delhi IIT deteriorated after consuming too much alcohol and she was admitted to a local nursing home,Kashalkar said.

On October 21,when the condition of the girl improved,the whole team was disqualified from the event and sent back to Delhi without being allowed to participate in the event,he said.
