Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HUJI) militants shot dead a villager in Chatroo belt of Kishtwar district,police said.
The HUJI militants barged into the house of one Gulam Mohmmad Chouhan in village Sigdhi Bata,230m kms from here,early this morning and opened fire on him,they said.
Chouhan died instantly following which the militants escaped.
Security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the militants,they said,adding one of the family members told police that HUJI militant Mohammed Amin was responsible for the killing.
Amin once worked as a cook for former MLC Qazi Jalladin in Chatroo. He later escaped with a carbine rifle and two AK rifles of Jalladin’s security guards and joined the outfit.
