The government on Thursday said it is not dragging its feet on high-profile cases which are being investigated by CBI.
“There is no reason for government to drag its feet.
There is a process of law. There is rule of law in the country. It will go according to that. There are courts involved, investigation agencies are involved,” Law Minister M Veerappa Moily said here.
He was replying to a question on why the government was slow on the Telecom issue involving former Telecom minister A Raja and charges of financial mismanagement against Prasar Bharti Chairman B S Lalli.
He said if the government interferes with the process of investigation,it will be “bad” for the country.
CBI is discharging its duty in accordance with the law. “The matter is in the radar of the Supreme Court. CBI is an independent organisation and has established its credibility,” he said.
Moily, however, refused to comment on the presidential assent for a Supreme Court inquiry into charges against Lalli saying he was not in touch with the subject.
