Eye on OBCs,Mayawati appoints Maurya as BSP’s national gen secy

In a statement,Mayawati said during the BSP government’s tenures in the state,historical initiatives were taken for the uplift,self-respect and welfare of the Dalits and OBCs,but some selfish people of her party tried to weaken this work by playing into the hands of opposition parties.

Mayawati,however,never punished the communities these people represented,as it is her faith that the punishment of one person’s fault should never be given to the whole community,said her statement which was read by party general secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui at a press conference.

Mayawati said Maurya had been a hardworking and dedicated party worker and has held important posts in the party and government.

An elated Maurya thanked the BSP chief for showing faith in him. He said it was only during a BSP government that a person belonging to Maurya community became a cabinet minister.

Though some people belonging to the community who had been very close to the party had betrayed the party mission but Mayawati never gave the punishment of that betrayal to the community,Maurya added.

Mayawati further said that besides Dalits and OBCs,she had also promoted the people belonging to other communities in the party organisation at all levels,such as Naseemuddin Siddiqui who belongs to Muslim community,and Satish Chandra Misra who belongs to upper caste community,are national general secretaries of the party.
