With the CBSE declaring the Class XII results,it is admission time on the campus. Delhi University will kickstart its admission process on Wednesday and St Stephens College will begin selling forms. The IITs,too,will announce the result of the Joint Entrance Examination on Wednesday,throwing open their portals to a select group of aspirants. Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh is expected to meet the press on Wednesday as the university unveils details of what the new admission procedure will be it had earlier announced that there would be no pre-admission forms starting this year. After the cut-off list is published,candidates can approach their preferred college directly to take admission,provided they meet the cut-off. There will be five cut-off lists on June 15,21 and 27,July 2 and 8. A slew of measures are expected to be announced on Wednesday. More importantly,the university will unveil new methods it will use to interact with students. Expected are Facebook pages,e-online days and the setting up of a call centre dedicated to inquiries about the university. Though admission helplines will be inaugurated only on Wednesday,they have already started functioning. The numbers are 011-24116752/53 and 011-27662507 Delhi University will offer admission to 54,000 undergraduate students this year. At St Stephens College,there are three ways through which a candidate can apply: By filling the form online and payment of Rs 50 via credit/debit card. By filling the form online,taking a print of the completed form and sending it to The Admissions Office,St Stephens College,Delhi-110007 along with a demand draft for Rs 200 payable to Principal,St. Stephens College,Delhi. By buying application forms from the sale counter at the college. For Rs 100,candidates will be given the college prospectus and two application forms. Candidates have to apply for each course through a separate form. Those who wish to apply for hostel facilities need to fill Residence application form and add an extra Rs 100 to the demand draft. Those applying under the sports quota should fill up the Sports form,which costs Rs 50. Candidates should fill a separate form for each sport. We are encouraging applicants to fill up forms online,as the college is trying to build a database of students. Even in cases where applicants download a completed form and send us a DD,the data has already been entered in the database, said K M Mathew,Tutor for Admissions. The college is also trying to optimise the handling of application forms. There are 400 seats on offer at St Stephens this year,not counting the 20 seats the college offers to candidates applying under the sports quota. The college offers 10 undergraduate courses. Unlike previous years,the college has decided to do away with weightage to marks obtained in Class X. There will be weightage of 85 per cent for plus-two marks,and 15 per cent for interview, Mathew said. Candidates are advised to visit ststephens.edu/admissions and apply online. The last date of submission of forms is June 13. The interview list,which will indicate the cut-offs,will be published on June 16. Interviews begin on June 20.
