Buddhadeb warns of immediate action against ‘Trinamool-Maoist nexus’

He said he would remind Chidambaram of what kind of party the UPA coalition had at the Centre.

A day after two Trinamool activists were arrested for alleged link with Maoists,West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today warned that action would be immediately taken on the basis of evidences of the opposition party’s nexus with the ultras.

“The state government will no longer wait. We will take action immediately on the basis of evidences of Trinamool’s link with the Maoists which are tumbling out one after the other,” the chief minister said at a rally here.

Bhattacharjee said he would inform Union Home Minister P Chidambaram about the ‘Trinamool-Maoist nexus’ which had once again been confirmed after the two arrests at a Trinamool-run camp in West Midnapore district.

“I have asked them not to keep any relation with the killer Maoists. We want peace, development and industry in the state.”

He said he would remind Chidambaram of what kind of party the UPA coalition had at the Centre, asserting that even two days back Trinamool Congress had held a meeting with the Maoists at Lalgarh.

“They want to facilitate the spread of the Maoists throughout the state causing concern to the people, who will never allow this,” Bhattacharjee said.

The chief minister, yesterday, said he would not hesitate to take stern action if the principal opposition party continued to have a nexus with the Maoists to destabilise the law and order.

Describing the incident as “extremely dangerous”,Bhattacharjee said the inmates of the camp, organised by the Trinamool-run municipality at Midnapore town, had obstructed the police during the arrest of two Maoists who had been given shelter there.

“This revealed how Trinamool Congress was trying to hide the Maoists,” he said.

This once again proved that the Trinamool Congress and the Maoists had been working in tandem in West Bengal which he had spoken of earlier too,the chief minister said.

“The Maoists have to be prevented from disrupting law and order in the state. We know who are these Maoists. They are killers and killing only common and innocent people. This can’t continue. Those working in tandem with the Maoists will not say the last word. It is only the people who will say the last word,” he said.
