Arundhati,Geelani be tried under treason charges: Chouhan

He also criticised Centre for not handling Kashmir effectively,specially the issue of Pak-occupied Kashmir.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday demanded that writer-social activist Arundhati Roy and Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani be tried as traitors for their remarks on free Kashmir.

“Cases of treason should be registered against them on the issue,” Chouhan told reporters at village Aanvalia on the second day of his ongoing Vanvasi Yatra while criticising the duo for supporting “Azaad” Kashmir in their speeches recently.

Later,at village Khotda in Khargone district,Chouhan demanded Centre that it takes steps for taking back Pak-Occupied Kashmir,saying it is the integral part of India.

He also criticised the Centre for not handling Kashmir issue effectively,specially the issue of Pak-Occupied Kashmir.

Referring to the tribal heroes,who laid down their lives for the country’s independence,he alleged that that they were not yet given their due respect.

“My government has decided to honour such brave leaders like Tantya Bheel,Bheema Nayak,Raghunath Shah and Shankar Shah by constructing memorial in their honour so that future generations remember them,” he said.

The chief minister also announced developmental schemes worth Rs 50 lakh for the development of Bhikangaon and also inaugurated and laid foundation stones fir different developmental works worth over Rs 73 crore on the occasion.
