2G note row: Pranab dismisses as ‘bunkum’ reports of his resignation

Note suggested Chidambaram could have prevented 2G scam by insisting on auctioning of spectrum.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has dismissed as “bunkum” reports that he had offered to resign following controversy over a note of his ministry on the 2G issue.

He also declined to comment on BJP leader Arun Jaitley’s observation dubbing the “truce” between him and Home Minister P Chidambaram after the controversy as “uneasy”.

“These are all bumkum. If you do not have any serious question, then I am sorry,” he said on Saturday when asked whether he had offered to resign following the controversy over the note which suggested that Chidambaram could have prevented the 2G scam by insisting on auctioning of the spectrum.
