Latest News Today Live: Six months after he was arrested on money laundering charges, former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was released from jail after the Jharkhand HC granted him bail on Friday. In his first statement after his release, Soren claimed that he had been falsely implicated, forced to spend five months in jail. Soren is facing money laundering charges linked to illegal possession of 8.36 acres of land. Soren was arrested on January 31 after he resigned from his post.

Releasing a white paper on the Polavaram Project, Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu said, "Polavaram is a central government project. Former CM, Hemant Soren, was arrested on January 31 in the case, shortly after resigning from his post and appointing loyalist and state transport minister Champai Soren to fill his shoes.
The ED had been investigating various cases in Jharkhand, including the alleged illegal sale and purchase of an Army plot in Ranchi. It was during the investigation into this case that the name of a former revenue sub-inspector of Bargaain Circle Office, Bhanu Pratap Prasad, came up.
The ED claimed that Prasad, who was eventually arrested, was part of a syndicate involved in acquiring properties illegally, through force as well as by falsifying government records.
Several original land records were recovered from him, and his phone contained an image of an 8.36-acre land parcel which was allegedly in Soren’s illegal possession.

The southwest monsoon is continuously advancing in Rajasthan where moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded at many places in the last 24 hours, as per the MeT data.
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places in the coming days.
The monsoon advanced in other parts of south-western and eastern Rajasthan on Friday. Currently, the northern line of the monsoon is passing through Jaisalmer and Churu.
In the last 24 hours, ending at 8.30 am on Friday, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder has been recorded in some parts of the Jodhpur division of western Rajasthan and many parts of Bharatpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Jaipur divisions of eastern Rajasthan.
The highest rainfall has been recorded in Marwar Junction, Pali in western Rajasthan at 72 mm and Masuda, Ajmer in eastern Rajasthan at 91.5 mm.

At least one person died and eight others were injured after a portion of the roof at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 collapsed on cars early on Friday.
All flight departures from terminal were also temporarily suspended.
This comes on a day when the national capital has been witnessing incessant rains with the Safdarjung base station seeing 228.1 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours till 8.30 am today.
